Dental Sedation
WE OFFER GENTLE SEDATION DENTISTRY TO KEEP YOU COMFORTABLE AND PAIN-FREE DURING ORAL PROCEDURES OR SURGERIES, ALL IN OUR OWN OFFICE.
What is Sedation Dentistry?
Sedatives, or anesthetics, are used to reduce pain and anxiety when you visit the dentist for some dental procedures. A certified dentist will administer the sedative easily so you will begin to feel relaxed and numb in a few short minutes. Depending on the type of sedation, you may or may not be asleep.
Common Types of
Dental Sedation
IV Sedation
Intravenous (IV) sedation, sometimes called sleep dentistry, means anesthesia is administered directly through your veins into the bloodstream. This triggers your body to quickly become relaxed, relieving anxiety.
Typically, you’ll be awake without pain or full awareness of the procedure. Most patients do not have any memory of the procedure following IV sedation.
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
Oral Sedation
Through ingesting a pill before your procedure, you can eliminate anxiety without using needles or IVs. Typically, patients will become drowsy or even fall asleep during the procedure.
PASADENA’S GO-TO PAINLESS DENTIST
Most dentists can offer nitrous oxide or oral sedation, but few are licensed to give you deep sedation or IV conscious sedation in-house. At Magothy Dental, you can get all sedation dentistry done in our office from a licensed dentist you trust.
